AT OVER SIX million followers, @UberFacts is one of the most widely followed accounts on Twitter. But today it tweeted two ‘facts’ that are definitely, definitely fiction.
Just as a heads up, here’s what Kris of UberFacts had to say after Buzzfeed called him out on some incorrect facts earlier this year:
I would say 96%-97% of the facts you see on the Twitter account are facts I found on science articles, Google alerts, new studies, anything like that.
Anything I post I honestly believe to be true, and when I find out otherwise I remove it as quickly as I can.
With that in mind, have a look at the following tweets.
These two ‘facts’ are actually from the book 100 Facts About Pandas, written by Irish comedian David O’Doherty, Claudia O’Doherty and Mike Ahern - contains 100 completely false facts about the monochromatic mammals.
Completely false. Made up. Not real. As the comedian pointed out:
So pandas AREN’T magnetic? What a disappointment.
At the time of publishing, the UberFacts tweets were still there. We wonder how they’re going to explain this one.
